It’s officially springtime and baseball season. In honor of the season, Quinn decided to sport one of his Red Sox outfits. It’s customized just for him- Pudroia. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the Red Sox lineup, Pedroia plays second base. Pudroia is a play on our last name. Get it? It’s very cute.
On another Red Sox related note, while I sit here and type this, the TV is on to HGTV. They just had a commercial for Glidden paint. Apparently now they have a whole line of paint that corresponds with your favorite team colors. Shh, don’t tell Ryan. I don’t want to have to break it to him that, no, we can’t have a Red Sox room in the new house!

Quinn and Fenway really bonded yesterday morning. They were so cute together. I’m so happy that when Quinn hits Fenway in the face or pulls his hair, Fenway just sits there and takes it. He’s such a sweet dog. I’ll have to remind myself of these pictures when I come home and see that Fenway has eaten yet another one of Quinn’s toys!

How cute are these feet?

Look at Quinn go.
(You’ll have to excuse my videographer skills. Or lack of.)
It’s getting harder to contain him in one spot. The times when I can put him on his back in the middle of a blanket with a toy while I run to another room to get something are gone. Now when I put him on his back he rolls over right away and he’s off. His current objects of desire- the base of his jumperoo, paper of any kind and my computer. Good stuff.

Quinn has another cough/ear infection combo. With a fever. Which meant a trip to the doctor yesterday, some antibiotics and a day at home for the 2 of us today. He was up screaming last night but seems fine this morning, so I was all set to send him to daycare. But I just took his temperature and it is still hovering around that magic number where they send kids home from daycare. So here we are. I think the antibiotic Quinn is on is making him hyper. He’s been crawling and playing and squealing like crazy this morning. He’s like the energizer bunny with a smoker’s cough and a trail of drool. And since I was up for part of the night, I am the opposite of the energizer bunny. Not exactly sure what the opposite of the energizer bunny would be- the sedated turtle? Anyway, that’s what I am. Wish me luck today…I’m off to pull Quinn away from the base of his jumperoo (for the 10th time in 5 minutes) which, apparently, he thinks is the tastiest thing since breastmilk.
I’m gross. March 25, 2008

This morning I was in my coworker’s office and she pointed to my shoulder and said, “you have some fuzz on your shoulder.” I look down and, nope, not fuzz. It’s Quinn snot. Smeared all over my shirt. Lovely. The even grosser part is that instead of running to wash it off with a paper towel, I licked my thumb and wiped my shoulder clean with my thumb. I started to walk back to my office and then thought- EEWWWW! Did I really just do that? Is this what motherhood does to you? Does it really make you no longer aware of the socially acceptable ways to clean snot off your shirt? (Are there socially acceptable ways to clean SNOT off a shirt?!?) Luckily I was talking to other mothers, some of whom have young children, so the snot and my actions didn’t even phase them. Note to self: double check all clothing for traces of Quinn’s bodily fluids before entering the office. 2nd note to self: don’t ever do that again.
PS- Don’t worry all of you germophobes out there. I immediately went and washed my hands and cleaned my shirt off properly. Like I should have in the first place. I bet you all can’t wait to shake my hand next time I see you
Playground adventures March 23, 2008

I’ve been waiting for the weather to get a little bit warmer so we can start playing outside a bit more. Right now Quinn has only experienced the great outdoors from the comfort of his stroller, all bundled up. The weather was great yesterday so we decided to head to the playground. I had a feeling Quinn would like the swings and, sure enough, he loved them. He laughed and squealed and smiled. He has a new noise he makes when he is excited- instead of squealing while exhaling he squeals while inhaling. It almost sounds like he’s gasping for air, which makes it alarming the first time you hear it but after that it’s so funny! He also tried out the slide but that didn’t do anything for him. The swings are where it’s at for Quinn.
It’s so fun watching Quinn experience new things. Such small things are so exciting for him. Last night my dad showed Quinn how a magnet sticks to the fridge. I don’t know what about that was so funny but Quinn thought it was hilarious. My dad pulled the magnet off and then put it back on for about 10 minutes while Quinn laughed and laughed. Don’t you wish adults had that sense of wonder and joy at such small things?
Easter bunny Quinn March 22, 2008

You guys don’t seriously think that I would let Easter go by without taking some holiday related photos of Quinn, do you? I actually had a plan for this Easter photoshoot…it involved Quinn, Fenway, 2 pairs of bunny ears and some plastic Easter eggs. But Fenway ate the plastic Easter eggs and 1 pair of bunny ears so he was excused from the shoot. He must have known that those ears were for him. That left just Quinn and a pair of bunny ears. He was in such a great mood and was laughing and shrieking the whole time. I definitely plan on holding onto these pictures and showing all of his friends when he hits that awkward preteen stage when everything his parents do is embarrassing to him!
I uploaded a few of them to shutterfly rather than posting them all on here because I couldn’t decide on my favorites.
Yes, I’ve become that mom who dresses her child in silly outfits for every holiday. And I love it!

And I’ve already been up for 2.5 hours, changed 2 poopy diapers, did 2 loads of laundry, made some baby food and did some online banking. Oh-and took a shower, which is always a feat when you have a 6 month old! Quinn has already been up for 2 hours, pooped 2 times, read (aka sucked on) 2 books, played in his exersaucer and is in the midst of a nap. The two of us are on a roll! It’s gonna be a good day.
Quinn’s got game March 19, 2008

As his mom, I shouldn’t be impressed that Quinn has already mastered the art of flirting. But, because he does it so innocently and with such sheer happiness, I am. Plus, I love that every few minutes, in between his giggles and smiles, he looks back at me, as if to reassure me that I am the main girl in his life.
Here are Quinn’s moves. For those single people out there, you might want to take notes. He starts with a casual glance. Than he turns that into a stare, but not a creepy stare, because he accompanies it with a big smile. Then he starts the giggle…not a full out giggle right away. Sort of a huh…huh…huh…and then a belly laugh. By this time the other baby he is flirting with is usually smiling back at him.
He flirts with the same baby every day at daycare. He giggles at her, she looks at him, he laughs some more, she stares some more, he gives it one more good belly laugh and finally, he gets a smile from her.
Then last night at aquatots we sat Quinn next to a cute baby girl. He had been giving her his best flirt-giggle earlier in the class and apparently it worked…she was smiling at him while he again giggled and made noises at her. By the end of the class they were both reaching for each other. The fun ended when I picked Quinn up over my head and smelled his bum to see if he had pooped. He didn’t smell so I put him back down but the little girl had lost interest. I guess having your mom smell your butt isn’t too good for your game! (Single people, make sure to put that in your notes!!!)
